How numerology numbers are calculated
Numerology reduces names and dates to single digits (1–9) plus the “master numbers” 11, 22 and 33. Each of your core numbers looks at a different part of you:
- Life Path — from your full date of birth. The headline number, describing your journey and natural tendencies.
- Destiny / Expression — from all the letters of your full name. What you are here to build.
- Soul Urge — from the vowels in your name. Your inner desires and motivation.
- Personality — from the consonants. How others tend to see you.
- Birthday — from the day of the month you were born. A specific gift you carry.
Pythagorean vs Chaldean
The two systems use different letter charts. Pythagorean assigns 1–9 to the alphabet in order. Chaldean — the older system common in Indian numerology — assigns 1–8 based on ancient sound values and never gives a letter the number 9. Switch systems above to compare. To reduce any number by hand, add its digits until one digit remains (keeping 11, 22 and 33).
