A small, independent toolbox for everyday numbers and words

Why we built it

The utility corner of the web is in poor shape. Search for something as simple as a percentage calculator and you land on a page where the tool is a 200-pixel box surrounded by six advertisements, three newsletter prompts and a cookie wall — and the answer, when you finally reach it, comes with no explanation of how it was reached.

We wanted the opposite: the tool first, at the top of the page, working the moment it loads; and beneath it, a proper written explanation of the method, worked examples, the edge cases that trip people up, and honest limits. If you leave understanding the calculation rather than just holding the number, the page has done its job.

How we work

• Everything runs in your browser. Values you type are processed on your own device. We do not have a database of your inputs because your inputs never reach us.
• No accounts, ever. Nothing on this site requires registration, an email address or a download.
• Formulas are shown, not hidden. Every calculator page states the formula it uses and works through at least one example, so results can be checked by hand.
• Limits are stated plainly. Where a tool is an approximation — BMI, numerology, indicative market prices — the page says so rather than implying precision it does not have.
• Fast by default. No frameworks, no trackers on by default, no layout that jumps while it loads. Pages are a few tens of kilobytes and work on a slow connection.

Editorial standards

Content is written and reviewed in-house rather than generated in bulk. Formulas are checked against primary sources — standards bodies for unit definitions, the WHO for BMI categories, NIST guidance for password advice, the WCAG specification for contrast thresholds. Where authorities disagree, such as ethnicity-specific BMI thresholds or AP versus Chicago title case, we say so instead of picking one and calling it settled.

Market data on the gold, silver and currency pages comes from third-party feeds and is presented as indicative reference pricing, never as a dealing quote. Pages that touch money or health carry an explicit note that they are general information and not professional advice, because they are.

Corrections

If a number is wrong, we want to know and we will fix it. Send the page, the input you used and the result you expected to hello@tigerholdings.org and you will get a reply. Substantive corrections are reflected in the page’s updated date.

How the site is funded

Tiger Tools is free to use and is funded by advertising. Our commitment is that ads never obstruct a tool, never sit inside a result area, and never masquerade as part of the interface. Who runs it

Tiger Tools is published by Tiger Holdings, an independent publisher, and is maintained by a small team that designs, writes and codes every page here. We are not affiliated with any bullion dealer, bank, lender or exchange, and we take no commission on anything you might do after using a tool.

What is next

The roadmap is driven by what people actually ask for: scientific and fraction calculators, date and time-zone tools, more text utilities, and deeper written guides connecting the tools to the questions behind them. If something you need is missing, tell us — requests are the single biggest influence on what gets built.
